Hey, you guys! Chuck here!
In my last post I discussed how I use the words “high-energy”. I explained that I use the words “high-energy” to motivate myself and the good people around me! I’ve found in my own experience that if you simply say the words “high-energy” you will already begin to feel high-energy! In this post I intend to discuss what I mean by “high-energy”.
When I use the word “energy”, I mean it in the very literal and scientific sense of the word. Energy is the potential to do work! When I say that I’m high-energy, I’m saying that I have a lot of potential to do work! And when I use the word “work”, I mean it in in a very non-literal and non-scientific sense of the word. To me, work is that which brings us closer to success!
Being high-energy is not merely a matter of being hyper or spastic or bouncing off the walls! Being high-energy means having the potential to do that which will bring one closer to success! A lot of times, being hyper can be an obstacle to achieving success! In my twenties I struggled significantly with anxiety, which certainly can feel like energy! It has the sensation of being a force actively working against your success! When someone has a lot of anxiety or stress, we may notice that they move a lot. And yet, we have an instinctive awareness that this is not the same as being high-energy! Anxiety and stress reduction are an integral part of being high-energy! So the paradox of being high-energy is that it’s crucial to incorporate practices that we tend to think of as more low-energy, like guided meditation, breathing exercises, and self-hypnosis.
Work is that which brings us closer to success and is not merely a matter of moving things from point A to point B. I delivered pizzas for four years and in that time I moved a lot of things from point A to point B. And yet, this was doing nothing to bring me closer to success! In fact, it was creating more distance between me and success, because the hours that pizza delivery guys are expected to work are not conducive to someone who is trying to establish a career as a professional entertainer! When I used to spend two hours a day in the gym, I certainly moved a lot of things from point A to point B. And yet, this was not bringing me closer to success because I was doing ineffective exercises and I wasn’t doing anything to improve my diet! The old adage “work smarter, not harder” definitely rings true for me!
So when I say that I’m high-energy, I mean that I have a lot of potential to do that which will bring me closer to success! When I suggest to you that you become high-energy, I’m suggesting that you realize and manifest your own potential for success! I hope these last two posts have helped to clarify what I mean when I use this fairly open-ended phrase, but if you do have more questions, please email me at my new high-energy email address firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a comment here or on Facebook or Twitter!
